Written on photograph: Grindstone Indian Reservation Dance House. 1970. Ernest Burrows on the roof. The Willows Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution supplied the cedar shingles and other materials used in re-roofing the dancehouse. About 1949 the Glenn County federated women's clubs provided shingles for re-roofing the structure and the Willow's chapter DAR assisted also. The original semi-subterranean dance house was built about 1897 by Wallace Burrow's father and other relatives. Ernest Burrows born May 18, 1912 died Sept. 23, 1984, at 72. He was the son of Wallace and Amelia (Smith) Cook. Ernest Married 1st, Anita Cook by whom he had 5 children. He then married Rose McDaniel. .
