Photograph caption dated October 28, 1963 reads, "Carl Kirk and his son, Scott, 13, Burbank, prepare for long jog across Mojave Desert Nov. 24 during the Southern California Motorcycle Club's annual Hare and Hound Turkey run. The Kirks will play the role of 'hares' and toss two-pound sacks of lime from their cycles to mark the trail for the 'hounds.'"
