Photograph caption dated April 3, 1962 reads, "Mrs. Marguerite Fanning was installed Monday night as acting U.S. Postmaster of Burbank, succeeding her husband who died last January. Mrs. Fanning, nominated for the post by U.S. Sen. Clair Engle, has been a member of the Los Angeles County Probation Committee since 1950. Her late husband, Michael D. Fanning, served as Los Angeles Postmaster from 1945 to 1953 and Burbank postmaster from February, 1960, until his death. Installation was held at the Five Horsemen Inn, Burbank."
