This photograph was taken on one of GMW's visits to the diversion dam to repair electrical motors. Lord and Bishop were the contractos, not R.C. Storrie, GMW's employer, but apparently the electricians at this job site did not have as much experience with electric motors as did GMW, which is at this point fortuitous because it gave GMW many occasions to visit the site and take photographs. Hence his record is more complete here than at Lord Bishop's other job site on Grizzly Creek. He was paid by Lord and Bishop for those days he worked at their job sites. The fact that GMW made so many visits to this site raises some doubt about the accuracy of the dates. Certainly the year is correct, but he is less certain about the month. This photograph, for example, appears to me to have been taken on the same day as GMW 142, based on the position of the wquipemtn and forms. GMW feels that it was a month or two later. About 2 or 3 ft. of concrete would have been added with each pour ; then steel would have been laid in place, and concrete poured again. The steam powered sawmill used wood for fuel. It was primarily used for cutting logs into wood for forms. A great deal of the timber was wasted. Audio Tape #13B-000
