George Leslie Gobel was born on May 20, 1919. He was an American comedian and actor. He hosted his own weekly NBC television show, "The George Gobel Show," which ran from 1954 to 1960. He died on February 24, 1991. Photograph caption dated May 13, 1957 reads "With laudable objective of winning a swimming pool for the future San Fernando Valley Youth Center at Victory and White Oak, Valley youngsters are led by Fred Beck, KABC-Radio deejay, to see prominent Valleyite show business stars like George Gobel, for ideas on 'Where the Yellow Went.' The visits are made under the auspices of the San Fernando Youth Foundation whose president is Mrs. Marvin Owen. Jotting down thoughts from NBC-TV comedian Gobel, center, are, from left, Alan Soenke of Sun Valley Junior High; James Aurit, North Hollywood Junior High; Deejay Beck; Dan Campbell, Sun Valley Junior High, and Leon Church, North Hollywood Junior High."
