Description
This is an exterior image of the Farmers and Merchants Bank at 300 Pine Avenue. The oldest part of the building is shown in the foreground, featuring Ionic columns, long perpendicular windows, a clock above the main entrance, and other embellishments. Two tall palm trees are visible to the right, near the front entrance. Behind the older building, an additional tall multi-storied building is visible, with traditional exterior fire escapes extending down the length of the structure (on left). On top of the tall building, there is a large, two-sided, metal framework sign holding large letters which advertise the bank: "F & M" on one side, and "Farmers & Merchants" on the other. Hung along the upper edge of the same building is a real estate banner, stating: "AVAILABLE; FOR LEASE; 213-432-0103." Two vintage-style street lights with urn-shaped shades are visible along the sidewalk. DATE NOTES: Circa 1991. ORIG. IMAGE: 3.5" x 5" color glossy print. NEGATIVE: Yes.
