Two guerrillas, a woman and a man, from the Farabundo Martí Liberation People's Forces (FPL), armed with an assault rifle, are on guard in the town of La Palma, El Salvador. A resident, a woman wearing an orange skirt and a military cap, stands next to them. Guerrillas occupied La Palma, a town of 12,000 people, for twenty-four hours and then retreated to the hills in the middle of the night.
