Image of a certificate from the trustees of the Village of Niagara Falls New York, made out in manuscript to Walter C. Hulett and dated June 9, 1852, that appoints Hulett a fireman in Niagara Falls Fire Department Fire Company No. 2, with a central image of the seal of New York labeled “Excelsior” with the goddesses Liberty and Justice standing on either side of a shield and an American eagle on the banks of the Niagara River with Niagara Falls, ships, and town rooftops in the background; certificate has ornate patterned border. Date based on year certificate was issued to recipient. "Know ye, That we, the Trustees of the Village of Niagara Falls by the power vested in us, by the Legislature of the State of New York, do hereby appoint Walter C.
