"Col. Joseph C. Moore, 35, new commanding officer of the Salinas Army Air Base, is pictured as he assumed command of the Fourth Air Foce installation on Saturday 24 March 1944. Col. Moore, a command pilot and experienced in all types of aircraft, relieved Col. Theodore M. Bolen, who had been commanding officer of the base since May 30, 1943. Col. Bolen has been designati\ed as commanding officer of the Portland Army Air Base."
