Image of the beach and railroad next to the North Beach Bath House and Pier in Santa Monica, California, with the Arcadia Hotel in the distance.
This is a copy negative (a photograph of another photograph). "North of S.M Canyon before 101 hwy - 1900" is on item. "SM Pier c 1900" and "Carrillo Canyon Project" on envelope as it was received; however the pier is the North Beach Bath House Pier located south of Santa Monica Canyon. Title devised by cataloger; date transcribed from item. The water tower seen on the cliff at left was destroyed by 1903 according to a note from Ernest Marquez that accompanies item photCL_555_01_1229.
