Description
Two members of the Communist Party from San Jose, seated in studio in front of a banner proclaiming "Defend the Houston Rebellion!" talk about the events surrounding the death of Joe Campos Torres in Houston, Texas in 1977, the subsequent Cinco de Mayo Moody Park riots in 1978, and supporting rallies in Houston to arouse interest in the Moody Park Three case. They speak with callers about fighting for Chicano rights, especially in East San Jose. Barrio Expressions was a community access television show documenting Chicanx and Latinx life in the East San Francisco Bay Area. It ran on Hayward cable television from 1976-1985. While the shows were filmed primarily in the Hayward area, they include stories from around the East Bay and San Jose. The show aired weekly, with 26 episodes per year. Barrio Expressions.
