Description
View of Southern Pacific's Chico Depot.
Southern Pacific's Chico depot at 5th and Orange presented a busy appearance in this 1912 photo taken for the company's engineering files. Many of Chico's streets were unpaved at this time as evidenced by the muddy mess in the foreground. Note the street car tracks crossing the SP line. This building is in use now as office for the district roadmaster and the freight area is used by Pacific Motor trucking-a Southern Pacific subsidiary (Courtesy of Southern Pacific)-1984 Building is now Amtrak Depot.
