Description
Two women wear London fashions from 1832. The woman on the left wears a purple gown with long, voluminous Juliet sleeves. She wears a large white ruff and a gold brooch. Her purple dress is wrapped around her and the collar is folded back, exposing a white underdress. Her bodice is pleated. Her skirt has a line of five large purple bows running from the waist to the hem. She wears a pink bonnet with white ribbons, lace, and feathers for decoration, and long pink and white ribbon ties. She wears purple shoes, white gloves, and holds the other woman's hand. The woman on the right wears what looks to be a wedding dress. It is white and has long, voluminous Juliet sleeves. Her collar has a gold brooch at the center and has a plain upper collar and two tiers of wide lace edged collars below that reach to her shoulders. Below that are epaulets edged in lace that extend from the center front of the waistline past the shoulder line. The bottom half of the skirt has a white, scalloped lace edge with a wide lace flower patterned lace ruffle below, over a plain edged skirt. She wears white shoes, white gloves, and has a gold band around each wrist. Her bonnet is white, decorated with white ribbons and has a lace veil attached to it. Pink and green flowers decorate the brim. She has removed one of her gloves. The women are standing outside by a green bench on a hill that overlooks a castle in the middle distance.
