Description
Negative shows men, women and children finishing the 1986 y-Walk. They are walking under the banner that reads: "Finish. Avia high performance athletic footwear." The lead group has walked past two barricades, one of which has a sign on it that reads: "Free parking 1 block north on Third." Some of the participants are wearing tee shirts that read: "Walk for women. YWCA 1986", and some of them are carrying balloons. On envelope: "1986 Y-Walk." "Executive Director Faith Rein (the top job had been renamed again) and President Sarah Janigian launched two annual events that heaped public attention on the association: the Y-Walk downtown in 1984, in which volunteers enlisted sponsors to raise money for YWCA programs; and TWIN, Tribute to Women and Industry, in 1985."
