Description
Old Dogtown about 1870.
Dogtown and Mill City (Magalia) were two separated towns next to each other that shared the same post office - Butte Mills. Magalia finally overtook Dogtown. A gold nugget "Dogtown Nugget" weighing 54 pounds was found here in 1857.
