Description

Single woman beside railing, passengers visible on deck below -- view 2 (2009-1088). Two women and Alfred Fuhrman posing on ship's deck. Alfred Fuhrman was born in Germany, attended the University of Bonn and came to California as a sailor. An active labor agitator in the Coast Seaman's Union, organized the Brewers and Malsters Union of the Pacific Coast, was an early member of the IWA. Took the bar and was active as an attorney beginning around 1893.
