Description
Main entrance with modern structure behind the pillars. First founded as a chapter house for monks. The remains of 1600 pillars of this wooden edifice with nine-stories and "a thousand rooms" with a roof of copper tiles (hence its name). A richly ornamented throne of ivory (symbolic for the Buddha-- prior to image-worship) is reported to have adorned the center of the pavilion.
