Photograph of an aerial view of the Los Angeles River looking northwest towards Fletcher Drive, 1940. The river meanders from the foreground at left into the distance at right and is full of water. The large Southern Pacific railroad yard can be seen to the right of the river. Hundreds of small houses are visible on both sides of the river, and low hills can be seen at left.
