Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Mission San Juan Buenaventura taken by photographer Edward Vischer, Ventura, ca.1875. Wrought-iron fence flanks either side of the sequential entranceways to the main building of the adobe mission, which stands a little right of center, its bell tower connect to it at the right side. Both the roof and bell tower are topped by crosses. To the left, a cemetery can be seen, overgrown by weeds, in front of which a stone wall stands extending from the main building. It features an arched wooden gate and an overhang made from terracotta tiles. The street in front of the mission is unpaved. Hills are visible in the background.
