Photograph caption dated December 5, 1962 reads, "The fifth Valley store in the Alpha Beta food market chain opened Monday at 11900 Balboa Blvd., Knollwood, before a group of civic officials. Participating in the ribbon-cutting ceremony were (from left): James March, San Fernando Chamber of Commerce manager; Ray Simeral, San Fernando Chamber president; Martin Yates, store manager; Mrs. Faye MacFarlane, Granada Hills Chamber of Commerce manager, and Fred Cantrell, assistant to vice president of operations, Alpha Beta. The store is the 78th in Southern California."
