Description: This 1947 photograph captures the IXL Clothing Store for Men at 804 J St. The store, founded by Harry Kaufmann in 1923, grew to a 15-store enterprise by 1986 and included locations in California, Oregon and Nevada. Until its sale in 1988, it held the distinction of being one of the few employee-owned companies in Sacramento.
