Description
Interview with Pastor Ervin Smith (minister) and Winnie Sue Elizabeth Smith Mallory (singer). Pastor Smith was born in the days of depression (1931- ) in Spartanburg (?), South Carolina. His grandmother raised him. His mother, who was seriously ill when she was pregnant with the pastor, passed away when he was three weeks old and his father, a minister, traveled. Winnie S. The interview covers Pastor Smith's and Mrs. Smiths religious upbringing in the south during a time of depression and segregation, first memories of church, their conversion experience, music in Los Angeles, changes in ministry and music.
Topics covered the Baptist and Pentecostal church and their differences, segregation in the south, why they came to Los Angeles, their experience in Los Angeles, how they met, and pastor Smith's experience in the armed forces.
