Designed by Peter K. Schabarum, the Art Deco Valley Municipal Building, located at 14410 Sylvan Street, was completed in 1932 and is a Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument. Photograph caption dated August 13, 1956 reads, "Emergency nerve center - Valley police switched to emergency radio service early today in front of City Hall as flooded telephone cables shorted out all STate phones in Van Nuys area.
