Description
Photograph of an exterior view of the Van Nuys Hotel on the corner of Main Street and Fourth Street in Los Angeles, 1900-1909. The six-story hotel is at center. It is a square building with rows of small windows covered by large cloth awnings on the upper stories. Massive awnings cover shops on the bottom floor. Several pedestrians can be seen walking on the concrete sidewalk around the base of the hotel. The streets that are visible are unpaved, and a horse-drawn wagon is visible at left. Several other buildings are visible in the background, including a very tall structure at left.
