Description
This is an oral history interview with Roy and Maudene Schroeder recorded in 1975. The Schroeder family descends from pioneers that settled in the Tremont area before the town of Dixon was established in 1868. They also discuss the history of the May Fair. The Dixon May Fair and Parade is California's oldest event of its kind. The first Dixon May Day celebration was in 1875 and included horse races. The first Dixon May Fair was in 1885 and the first May Day Parade in 1909. It has continued annually to the present day.
