NASA's "Aeronautics and Space report" August 1973 edition. Segment titled "Space Forest Fire Alert" describes a cooperative project between the California Division of Forestry and NASA's Ames research center to use space based technology (satellites) for automation of weather monitoring and reporting to assist firefighters in California by providing real-time weather observations electronically. California Division of Forestry fire equipment and CDF Meteorologist William Innes featured.
