Photograph of a cavalry soldier holding in his right hand the reins of "Comanche", Custer's horse, 1890. The soldier's left hand holds a flag on a staff. They are standing in a grassy field. A military base is in the background. A mountain rises in the distance. Comanche was the only living thing that came through the Custer battle at Little Big Horn on June 25, 1876. The horse was later mounted and put on display at the University of Kansas or the State Museum at Denver, Colorado.
