The body of an unidentified construction worker was recovered from a construction site in South Gate and is being wheeled to a waiting ambulance. The man was killed when nearly 2,800 pounds of plywood came crashing down on him as he walked through a Presbyterian Church construction site on the 8400 block of State Street. Witnesses said the accident happened so quickly the victim had no time to scream for help. No one else was injured. Photograph dated August 28, 1989.
