The Pacific Electric Subway Terminal Building, completed in 1926 and restored around 1990, is a large twelve-story office building based on 16th-century Italian prototype, designed by Schultze and Weaver. For years, it served as the terminus of a trolley line that connected downtown with Hollywood. The segment of the line near downtown went under Bunker Hill, hence the name "Subway Terminal." At the Subway Terminal Building, people have gathered for the opening celebration.
