Photographic print of image featured on page 167 of "Electronics in the West." Caption from book: "Harold W. Lindsay, project engineer, with the first Ampex tape recorder, a great improvement over previous magnetic recorders. Crosby ordered 20 in 1947. Many industries soon found them invaluable." Caption from back: "Photo taken Feb-March 1948. Ampex Tape Recorder Model 200 - first model. Embarassed to use 100 (production model). 112 machines - first 20 to ABC thru Crosby Enterprises as a gift. RCA Victor. First deliveries by April 25, 1948." Photograph depicts Lindsay holding a clipboard while standing in front of the tape recorder.
