Description
Crates of apricots and raspberries. Hoses have been placed into the crates of apricots and a man works with machinery attached to the hoses. Stamped on the crates of apricots: "Los Altos apricots. Ripened on the tree. Grown and [illegible] by the Los Altos orchards of Santa Clara County, California." Stamped on the crates of raspberries: "Naturipe berries."
"Since 1917, Naturipe Berry Growers, a marketing cooperative owned 'by growers for growers' has brought the finest berries, both conventional and organic, to market. Based in Salinas, California, NBG grows strawberries, blueberries, raspberries and blackberries within the very specialized maritime climate of the Pacific Coastline, including Irvine, Oxnard, Salinas, Watsonville and Santa Maria." "The company was founded in 1917 as Central California Berry Grower Association and changed its name to Naturipe Berry Growers, Inc. in 1922." Crates of apricots and raspberries. Tubes/hoses have been placed into the crates of apricots (possibly to deliver sulfur dioxide, a preservative). Stamped on the crates of apricots: "Los Altos apricots. Ripened on the tree. Grown and (unintelligible) by the Los Altos orchards of Santa Clara County, California." Stamped on the crates of raspberries: "Naturipe berries."
