Description
Promotional brochure for the opening of the conservatory's "Musical Kindergarten," to be held from nine to eleven Saturday mornings, beginning September 14th. "By means of stories, told by the teacher one week, and reproduced by the children the next, the lives of the greatest composers will be presented with graphic and vivid portraiture so that these masters of music become as real to the child as Washington and Lincoln, and as dear to him as the heroes of his favorite fairy-tales." "Rhythmic exercises, along the line of the Delsarte System, marches, and motion songs will constantly tend to produce that perfect relaxation of the muscles so essential to successful musicianship, developing the body while they quicken the sense of rhythm..." "Such, in brief, is the method of child-training in music to be introduced for the firest time in San Jose by an expert in musical education Prof. F. Loui King." In smaller print at bottom, "The King Conservatory of Music is indebted to Messrs. Benj. Curtis & Son for the Everett Grand furnished for this Course."
