The North Western Diocese, Tanzania, 1984. Here is the result of a baking class at Ntoma Home Craft School, and it could not have been any better by using gas or electricity. The ovens are large iron basins, filled with sand and placed over the fire. Staff and students alike are proud of being able to produce so many different things over a cooking fire - at a time with fuel and other shortages.
