Written on back: Sierra Madre Hotel 1883/4. Between Sierra Madre and Pasadena. Three miles of barren land, only sage and cactus. Jack rabbit hunting ground. Orange orchard set out right after hotel was built. Sierra Madre Villa, first tourist hotel of the region, about three miles east of Pasadena
