Description
Image of a man in a suit and top hat driving a horse-drawn cart full of dry goods; a woman in robes stands on a rising sun printed with the words "Good times are coming 1881" (a Morgan silver dollar) and holds a banner that reads "Low prices good goods and plenty of them," and a basket in her other hand; cherub with horn of plenty at right; monster with a sign that reads "hard times" is seen in the distance; image of an elephant carrying a streaming banner with its trunk that reads "The cheap store!" printed below.

"Hats, caps and gents' furnishing goods, wall paper, boots, / shoes, Ladies' and gents' rubbers, paints and oils. / De Peyster, N.Y."--text, center of image. "We like opposition, / We defy competition / And under no condition / Will we budge from our / Po-ition [sic], / As being the most popular / Store in / De Peyster, N.Y."--text, cloth draped over elephant, bottom center of image.
