Martin Allhoff was born in Britsenhim, Germany in 1827. Arrived in California in 1849 via ship. After period gold mining, settled in Coloma where owned a winery and distillery, dealer in wines and brandy. Married Louisa M. Wever. He and his wife ran Sierra Nevada Hotel in Coloma. Died in 1867.
