Photograph caption dated November 11, 1963 reads, "A sign of progress - John J. Lynch, assistant director of the California State Museum of Science and Industry, views one of the museum's newest exhibits, a mathematical model showing the discipline of mathematics. The museum is currently expanding its facilities and hopes in five years to be the largest museum of its type in the nation."
