This is side A of the fourth tape of recordings of a course taught by Peter Drucker in 1978. This was recorded on February 14. Drucker continues to talk about the case study on the university museum. He then goes into lengthy and in depth discussion about hiring practices. He stresses the importance of not hiring the best person, but hiring the right person, as well as the role age can play in employment decisions. He then segues into stories about General George Marshall and World War II. Drucker also talks about Skinner’s pigeon experiments, and how although he thought his reward system operated in a vacuum, it is not like that with humans. People look to see what kinds of rewards others are getting, and compare them to their own.
