Born in New York State in 1832; came to California in 1852. Settled in Sacramento where operated in ranching, banking and public affairs. Owned ranch in Florin; served on Board of Supervisors of Sacramento County; organized Peoples Savings Bank of Sacramento; served as railroad commissioner, state fire commissioner. Married Nellie Sims. Died in 1920.
