"A country baptism." "Ningpo [now Ningbo]. Boats of 264,000 tons go up river, narrow, small but good harbor." A Chinese clergyman is about to baptize a person in the river while a crowd looks on.
From the collection of the Hartwell family, two generations of American Baptist missionaries serving in China between 1858 and the 1940s.
