Description
Note: Photograph is a copy from California State Library. This is an early view of Fort Gaston, established in 1858, located on the western side of the Trinity River, 42 miles north east of Arcata. Name changed to Camp Gaston in 1867. It was abandoned in 1892. It had quarters for 200 solders. From left: 1st Lieutenant Quarters, Office for the Agency Clerk, 2nd Lieutenants Quarters, Storehouse.
