Description
Survival school students (L-R) Ron Venn and Joel Turner carry four backpacks and four rifles over a pond using a raft that was made out of a tarp and two wooden branches. The 160-acre camp, better known as the Starlight Training Center in Liberal, Missouri, was owned by Harry Claflin, a former U.S. Marine in Vietnam. The students are U.S. civilians with different backgrounds and professions who paid money in exchange for survivalist training. Claflin also spent time studying the tactics, troop proficiency, and military effectiveness of foreign countries like those in Central America where he trained Guatemalan, Nicaraguan, and Salvadoran special forces.
