Cf. photo nos. 10602-10607. -- Oskar Gemuseus (1874-1959) was a missionary of the Herrnhuter Brüdergemeine. He served as headmaster from 1907 to 1916, as mission superintendent of Nyassa [Nyasa] Province from 1925 to 1930, as bishop from 1932 to 1939. Starting in 1939 he wrote a history of the mission in Nyasa Province ("Wechselnde Gezeiten an den Gestaden des Nyassa"). His wife was Mathilde, née Richter. From 1933 to 1939, he served in Rungwe, Utengule and Isoko. In Utengule, he was an assistant to Brother Gemuseus. In 1937, he married Irmgard Wolff.
