Title supplied by cataloger. Designed by F. P. Burnham, this Classical Revival library building cost $34,000 to construct in 1908. An initial grant for $12,500 from Andrew Carnegie was later increased to $30,000, covering the majority of the expense. This building served as the city's public library from 1909 until 1972, when a fire forced its closure. It was demolished a year later. Early automobiles are parked, face-out, in a row next to Lincoln Park on Pacific Avenue in Long Beach looking north from Ocean Boulevard. Trolley lines run down the middle of the street and curve right as they pass The Wall Co. on the corner. Awnings, center right, cover the sidewalk under the sign for the Green Crown Drug Company. In the middle of the park is the Carnegie Library building.; Photograph #00077196, accession no. S-006-911 is a cropped view of this photograph.
