Captured in this circa-1960 photograph is Joe’s Club at 503 and 507 K St. Joe Yeargain was the business’s namesake and partial owner at the time this photograph was taken. The building in the upper part of the background is the Travelers Hotel at 428 J St. The building was razed during the redevelopment of the 1960s and the eventual construction of a $9 million Macy’s store that opened in 1963, and an adjoining mall that would open in 1970.
