Description
Photograph of an aerial view of the flooded Los Angeles River at the Lankershim Boulevard bridge, 1938. At right, the tip of an airplane wing is visible in the extreme foreground, while just below it, the river is visible beginning its stretch from bottom right to the center distance. At the bottom center, to the left of the river, a small patch of developed land appears to be either a country club or industrial and buildings are evident there. However, the land surrounding either side of this river appears to be a golf course. In the distance to either side of the river, the city expands, extending west past Universal Studios to the mountains on the horizon. Photoprint reads: "This photograph is loaned to you. Please return to: Illustrator. L.A. City Planning Dept. Rm.361 F City Hall, Los Angeles, California".
