Spires, vice president of the Los Angeles Board of Harbor Commissioners stands by as a shipment of more than 3000 books is loaded tor Liberia -- a gift from the people of Monrovia, California to the citizens of Monrovia, Liberia. Also present at the loading were Raymond J. Weir, Liberian Consul in Los Angeles (center) and David G. Jackson, Chairman of the 'Books for Liberia' Committee of Monrovia."
