Description
Visibile from the south, and across L Street, is Sutter's Fort. The main gate, as shown in the center of the postcard, was replaced by a more historically accurate one in 1991. It consisted of two massive, 15-foot-high redwood doors, and was designed after the one portrayed in an 1847 Joseph Warren Revere drawing of Sutter's Fort.
