In forest clearing stands a group of 11 men in a staggered semi-circle, some with hats in their hands, a couple with cigars in their hands, and all dressed formally in suits; a 12th man in white stands behind this group at the right and behind him can be seen part of a small tent. "Rev. Father Kenna - Commissioner" --handwritten note. Big Basin State Park was created through efforts of Andrew P. Hill and Sempervirens Club of California. Governor Gage signed bill creating park in 1901, appointed Redwood Park Commission which included Rev. Robert E. Kenna, President of Santa Clara College, William H. Mills, A. W. Foster, and Dr. W. R.
