Description
Photograph of a birdseye view of Los Angeles over the intersection of Second Street and Broadway looking east, ca.1878. The intersecting roads are barely visible behind the residential blocks to the left, which are filled with one-story houses packed closely together but in no apparent order. On the right side of the street, midway up the frame, the First Presbyterian Church is fully visible, with its impressively tall spire. Farther back from this a store that advertises "Groceries & Provisions" can be seen, beyond which St. Vibiana's Cathedral stands in the center distance.
